He is married with three daughters and has worked as a GP in Wandsworth since 1983. Prior to this he worked in the Malaysian jungle and then the Bahamas before coming back to the UK where he worked at junior hospital level in most specialties before completing his vocational training in General Practice. He obtained a Master of Science in Public Health Medicine in 1983 and worked until 2001 as a consultant in International Medical Assistance with the AXA group. He is an approved GP trainer and has lectured on GP management of hypertension as well as travel medicine and clinical decision support systems.
