Barbara Veloso is the Practice Manager, responsible for the day-to-day management of the practice. She works closely with the Management Partner on the operational development of the Practice. She joined the Thurleigh Road Practice in October 2010. She has over 5 years management experience in the NHS having worked previously at a busy GP surgery in South West London. She has also training and growth & innovation consultancy experience both in London and Portugal, where she is originally from. She holds an university degree in Business Management. She is married with one very playful son!

They hold an ‘1 Year Review’ clinic for babies every Thursday between 13:00-14:00.

These appointments are scheduled directly by our medical secretary in consultation with the parents of babies approaching the 10 month threshold.

The Health Visitors also hold a ‘Walk-in Baby Clinic’ every Thursday from 14:00-15:30, immediately following the 1 Year Review Clinic. The Walk-in Clinic provides a quick and easy weight-check service for parents of newborns.

The Health Visitors will visit families in the practice with children under five. They can be contacted at Stormont Health Centre on 020 7441 0700.

District Nurses

Our experienced District Nurses provide a nursing service to elderly and housebound patients. They can be contacted on
020 7441 0703.

Janet visits the Thurleigh Road Practice on Tuesday and Wednesdays and sees patients who have been referred by our GPs.

Janet offers short-term therapy (usually up to 12 sessions) and is able to work with patients using a number of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Janet is a member of the British Psychological Society and an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.

The receptionists are here to help you make appointments and request home visits, to pass on messages to doctors, nurses and staff, deal with prescription requests and answer general, but not medical, queries.

Our Finance Administrator is Eva Stoklosa who works in close partnership with Management Partner, Sandra Reeves, looking after both our NHS and Private practice accounts. She is currently studying for her Association of Chartered Credited Accountants (ACCA) accreditation. Ordering and Supplies are dealt with by her.  All queries regarding invoices should be directed to Eva.

Mrs Julia Rees is our IT & Data Entry Administrator. Julia is responsible for coding summarised medical data authorised by the GP’s into the patient’s medical record. Julia’s other main task is the overview of patient registrations and the maintenance of an accurate patient population. She works closely with the Primary Care Support Services to ensure that our registered patients live within our catchment area and sorts out any demographic differences in details held by the Health Authority and the Practice. She is a Health & Safety officer for the practice.

Maxine Dixon is the Administrator (reception).  Her main task is to support reception but she also deals with all medical notes queries and requests (including requests from solicitors), schedules meetings with our clinical staff,  and deals with incoming and outgoing mail.

Many of our registrars stay on at Thurleigh Road in various capacities following completion of their training – Drs Patel and Ovaisi spent their registrar period with us before joining the clinical staff as salaried GPs whilst Dr Balmain is now a GP Retainer following her year of tutelage under Dr Peach.
